Blogger Review

Quick Overview

Name: Blogger.

Website: blogger.com.

Cost: Free + a small annual fee if you require a domain name.

Owner: Google.

My Verdict: Legit (But whether I would recommend it is a different story).

Summary:

In my opinion, I think Blogger is a great starting point for affiliate marketers and online content writing beginners, in general.

But that’s about it, I’m afraid.

Because there’s no training on helping you to beome a successful blogger, the functionalities are extremely limited…

AND Google has FULL authority over your blog – meaning if your blog violates its terms (even if its accidental), then your blog will be pulled down.

Which means all your hard work down the drain.

So if you just wanna practice writing, then I guess Blogger is great in that respect.

But if you wanna create a lucrative Biz ion the long term, then WordPress is a MUCH better option.

What is Blogger All About?

Blogger.com has been around since the “old school” days of internet marketing.

Pyra Labs launched the platform in August 1999 and was shortly snapped up by Google in 2003.

The platform is simply a publishing service designed for folks who love writing about their passions and sharing their content with others on the internet.

That’s all there is to say about the platform really, in that respect lol.

Who Can Benefit From Blogger?

With its simplistic design and ease of use…

The publishing platform is geared towards any newbie who wants to quickly build a free blog from scratch without knowing any of that complicated website coding stuff.

Whatever your hobby, interest or passion – whether you’re into fashion, baking, fitness, astrology, cars or geek-tech, to name some topics…

You can become a blogger, make yourself known to the world, and potentially make some money.

I guess even if you already own a business and want to drive more traffic, then it can also benefit you.

How to Create a Blogger Website in 4 Steps

Building your free blog is super fast with Google’s writing platform. It can be done in literally seconds!

The steps:

  1. Add a title
  2. Create a web address
  3. Choose a theme
  4. Create blog!

Creating a New Blog

It’s that simple, even your gran can do it with her eyes shut and hands tied behind her back!

Well, almost lol.

What Blogger Features Are Available?

Once your blog is ready to roll, Google gives you the option of buying your own professional domain name…

For example; (yourpassion.com) instead of using a free subdomain (yourpassion.blogspot.com)

Buying a Domain Name Using Google Domains

There are a number of cool benefits to connecting a domain name to your blog:

Adding your own personal stamp (creating a brand), making your website more professional, and showing your audience that you mean business, are a few of the main advantages.

You can buy a .com, .net or .org domain on the cheap as well.

Up next are the 9 main Blogger features:

Blogger FeaturesPosts – Write and publish your articles.

You have the option to use a number of different font styles, sizes, and colors, insert images and videos, insert links, and apply other stuff for the layouts of your posts.

Stats – Check out the number of page views,  traffic sources (referring sites + keywords), and also the countries where your visitors are from.

Comments – View the published and spam comments from your visitors.

Google has also enabled automatic spam detection.

Earnings – See your Google ‘Adsense’ earnings report.

Campaigns – Promote your blog using PPC (Pay Per Click) ads via Goggle ‘Adwords’.

Pages – Publish new pages. These create the framework of your blog.

Layout – A ‘drag n’ drop’ feature for adding, removing, and editing gadgets on your blog.

Theme – You have 54 template designs to choose from for changing the appearance of your blog.

The templates are divided up into the various themes which are also mobile responsive:

  • Contempo
  • Soho
  • Emporio
  • Notable
  • Simple
  • Dynamic Views
  • Picture Window
  • Awesome Inc.
  • Watermark
  • Ethereal
  • Travel

Theme Templates

Settings – Change your blog’s basic, posts, comments, sharing, email, language, and formatting settings to suit your needs.

Any Training & Support Available Inside Blogger?

Unfortunately, there’s no step-by-step video training.

Just a bunch of Google’s mundane instructional articles “telling” you what to do.

It’s best to use YouTube if you want the real step-by-step stuff from other Blogger users.

When it comes to support…

Google offers you access to the ‘Blogger Help Forum’ to fire questions at bloggers with various levels of experience with the platform.

The Golden Question: Can You Earn a REAL Income With Blogger?

The answer depends on a number of factors.

Because working with Blogger isn’t as straightforward as you would think.

The first rule of thumb before setting up a blog is to choose your niche.

Too many beginners dive right into the deep end before picking a subject and narrowing it down to a specific targeted audience.

Secondly, if you want a cat in hells chance of ranking your content on Google page 1 (providing Google’s optimized Blogger for SEO)…

There are 2 important aspects that you’ll need to focus on:

  • Learn how to write quality blog articles and product reviews of 1,200 – 1,500+ words per post.
  • Find and learn how to use a keyword tool for finding low-competition keywords for driving free organic traffic to your posts.

Thirdly, you’ll need to locate the right affiliate programs and learn how to promote products effectively on your blog for generating revenue.

Finally, blogging isn’t just a “hobby”…

If you want to turn your passion into a full-time income each month, you’ve gotta treat it as a “real business”.

By blogging at least 3 or 4 times per week (depending on your niche) until you have enough daily visitors for sizeable commissions.

Because blogging is a continuous process, at the end of the day.

But when scaling out your site to the point of substantial amounts traffic from the search engines, you can wind down your efforts.

Or just hire a freelancer to keep scaling your Biz. 😉

However, it’s gonna take you 12 – 18 months of consistent graft before “Super Affiliate” status and financial freedom become your reality.

Yeah, Blogger provides you with the tools for writing about your passion.

But it teaches you absoultely nothing on building a successful online business!

So, this is where my #1 recommendation – Wealthy Affiliate comes into play for helping you crush it as a newbie.

PROS vs CONS of Blogger

PROS

  • The platform is free to use
  • Attach your own domain name to your site
  • It’s super easy for newbies to get started
  • There are a number of features built into it
  • Help & support is available
  • The potential to make some money with ‘Adsense’

CONS

  • No training on turning your blog into a business
  • The functionality of your website is limited
  • Only 50+ template themes to choose from
  • Google is in full control of your website (If you don’t abide by its rules, your site gets shut down)
  • ‘Adwords’ is an expensive option for promoting your blog & not recommended for beginners (Plus there’s no training on it)
  • Your application for an ‘Adsense’ account will be declined if your site doesn’t meet Google’s requirements
  • Your ‘Adsense’ account also gets closed down if you don’t make any money from it within a certain time frame

Final Thoughts: Is Blogger Worth it?…

Overall, Blogger is a great Content Management System (CMS) that’s easy to get to grips with for anybody who wants to start out as a digital writer.

I also like the fact that there’s a community to fall back on when you’re stuck with any aspect of the platform.

The potential is also there to make some money online with Adsense and other affiliate offers…

As long as you don’t stuff your content with a load of affiliate links.

However, you’re not shown how to create a digital empire as a blogger…

Your site is pretty limited in terms of features…

And if you don’t play by Google’s rules – you’re out of the ballgame in just 1 strike (with no second chances).

I dunno about you, but Google doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence when it comes to earning a full-time income with its Blogger system.

So realistically speaking, Google has full control over your success or failure, in my opinion.

Want a Kick-Ass Blogging Solution?

Instead of pinning your hopes on a blogging platform that you have no control over?…

Why don’t you choose a MUCH safer and better option – build yourself a free WordPress blog?

I won’t go into all the details, but let’s say that some of THE most successful bloggers/online Biz owners are WordPress users. 😉

So if you’d like your own WordPress blog (that’s YOURS), step-by-step training & 24/7 community support from 2-million affiliate marketers…

The full works for creating a lucrative business from scratch…
