Is Affiliate Marketing Dead? – 5 Reasons Why It’s ALIVE!

Is it true? “Is Affiliate Marketing dead in the water?

This is one of the golden questions that beginners want an honest answer to before starting up a business online and fully immersing themselves.

Is Affiliate Marketing Dead in The Water or Alive

Well, I’m a profitable Affiliate Marketer myself, so I know for a fact that the concept is 100% Alive and Kicking, and will continue to work until the end of time.

Want proof?

As long as the internet’s still around, and ESPECIALLY since product owners and giant corporations like Amazon NEED affiliates for driving sales and profits – affiliate marketing is here to stay. Period.

In this article, I’m gonna share with you 5 GOOD reasons WHY affiliate marketing ISN’T as dead as a dodo and WHY it’s “the” best way to earn a living in this day and age!

Sound good to you, buddy?

But first, let’s discover a bunch of affiliate marketing myths told by those affiliates who were/are unsuccessful because they failed to burn their boats and take the island.

I guess for a lot of folks, it’s much easier to come up with excuses rather than invest the “hard work” and make “sacrifices” for success.

As a result, they fabricate all sorts of false statements online about affiliate marketing in order to justify their failures and make themselves feel good about quitting, like…

  • It’s extremely difficult and not worth the effort
  • Low commissions means a minimal income
  • It’s too competitive. The big players are now dominating
  • The search engines are targeting affiliates & penalizing their sites for affiliate links
  • You’ll make more money flipping burgers at McDonald’s instead” (LOL – my fave)
  • Blogging & SEO are dead. If you don’t pay for traffic, you’re screwed
  • It’s declining. Fewer people are buying through affiliates these days

These are just some of the misconceptions I came across on the Warrior Forum and Quora (Q & A) site.

I’m sure there are plenty more myths thrown around the web from folks trying to muddy the waters of both Internet and affiliate marketing in attempts to put you off like rotten tomatoes.

So here are 5 reasons why ALL of those statements are absolute Bullsh*t (pardon my French)…

#1: It’s a Level Playing Field…

Anyone and everyone has the same opportunity to build a profitable affiliate marketing Biz from scratch – and I mean, EVERYONE!

Yes, there are always gonna be “Super Affiliates” creating competition. But the internet’s so gargantuan, there’s room for anyone to succeed – not just the big boys.

Affiliate Marketing is a Level Playing Field

They may have A LOT more money than you to chuck into paid marketing and they may even have the marketing skills for dominating Google using SEO, for example, that you don’t possess.

But these guys n’ gals all started at ground zero at one point in their careers. So I can assure you that not a single one of them accomplished success overnight.

YOU have everything it takes to learn what they know and become just as successful. If not, more.

It just takes time, patience, and elbow grease to get there. Nobody ever said it was “easy”, but you can do it.

#2: Your Efforts Will Equate to $$$…

Yes, you may join some affiliate programs that reward you with low % commissions – depending on your chosen niche and the type of program.

For example, check out Amazon’s affiliate commission percentages on its products/services.

Yeah, I know, not exactly a pretty sight or even something to shout home about.

But with that said, if you get Amazon’s products in front of enough eyeballs and generate sales every day, those commissions can soon stack up over weeks – producing a lovely passive monthly income on your end.

In order to create a FULL-TIME income through affiliate marketing though, you’ll need to choose a platform, get helpful content out there, and continuously peddle your Biz forward on a daily basis.

I’ve seen some successful affiliates raking in $5K – $10K per month in Amazon commissions after 2 to 3 years of hard graft. Crazy, huh?

On another positive note, there are actually affiliate programs (especially in the “make money” niche) that pay out over 40% commissions and some “monthly recurring” ones too!

To see an example of those programs/products, check out Affiliate Bootcamp if you wanna learn how to potentially take your online income to another level.

Your hard work will totally be worth it, IF you do things right and give your Biz enough time to blossom.

#3: It’s on The Rise, Baby!…

With over 4 BILLION potential customers connected to the World Wide Web (YUP, over half the world’s population) and even more folks jumping on the bandwagon, as I speak – it’s creating so much more demand.

And with that increased demand for product/service purchases online also comes a heck of a lot more “opportunity” for affiliates to earn their fair share of the pie.

In today’s digital world, the opportunity to bring home the bacon (and PLENTY of rashers too), has never been greater!

More and more marketplaces and businesses are incorporating their own affiliate programs because they recognize the real potential to cash in with the help of affiliates.

So I very much doubt affiliate marketing is gonna go downhill any time soon.

Well, unless the world gets wiped out by a zombie apocalypse or another ice age. Then it’s a different kettle of fish lol.

#4: Digital Marketing Works a Real Treat…

Whatever internet marketing method you use for building an affiliate marketing Biz – whether it’s blogging and SEO, social media or paid marketing like solo ads – it all works, again, IF you work your tail off.

Now, when it comes to blogging and SEO specifically, if you learn the ropes of both and apply that knowledge, it’s 100% possible to get your content indexed on page 1 of Google for traffic, sales, and commissions.

Trust me, it works. How else did you come across this blog article or website, huh? 😉

Just imagine for a second if neither blogging/SEO worked. There would be no organic search results = RIP Google.

#5: Google Loves Affiliate Links…

Well, to a certain degree lol.

OK, this last reason may relate to the previous one, but if Google penalized websites that contain affiliate links, don’t you think it would also mean the end of days for the Big Daddy of all search engines?

But think about the bigger picture…

If Google really had it in for affiliate marketers/bloggers linking to products on their websites, Google would have a sh*t storm coming its way because no “helpful and organic” content would get indexed.

Who would wanna write blog content, if there’s no monetary gain from it, hey?

It wouldn’t just lead to a devastating impact on affiliates and Google itself, but the affiliate marketing industry on a whole would sink like the Titanic.

Businesses would lose profits and go bust, JOBS would be lost, and the general economy would go to pot.

So it’s really in Google’s (and everyone’s) best interests that links are allowed in content.

However, there’s still a line that shouldn’t be crossed when it comes to “affiliate links” because if you go overboard, then Google will penalize your site for “SPAM”.

At the end of the day, it’s the “user experience” that’s the most important aspect to take into consideration.

So use links sparingly within your content and you’ll land your website in both your visitors’/Google’s good books.

Final Thoughts on Affiliate Marketing Being Dead…

At the end of the day – potential customers, businesses, and especially the search engines need “affiliates” just as much as affiliates need them.

It’s a two-way street relationship. Wouldn’t you agree?

For affiliate marketing to work and be profitable, everyone must learn to play ball with one another because if they don’t, the consequences could be catastrophic, in my opinion.

So, the next time you hear a bunch of negative stuff on affiliate marketing, like “flipping burgers pays more”, blah, blah, blah – take it with a pinch of salt because it’s nothing but LIES and Chinese Whispers.

There are three types of folks who spread myths about affiliate marketing.

1: Those who tried it and threw in the towel too soon.

2: Those who NEVER have tried it but just love getting a kick out of rocking the boat.

3: Those who were once-successful but failed to adapt to the forever-evolving internet marketing landscape and found it much easier to shift the blame on to the affiliate marketing arena.

The Bottom Line: Affiliate Marketing will always work, BUT only IF you do. So go and become an uber-successful Entrepreneur!
